Music is an essential part of the educational project at IPSI School. All students receive musical training from early childhood through secondary education, with music understood as a powerful tool for both personal and collective development.
From the fourth year of primary school, students can choose orchestral string instruments or brass instruments as part of their music classes. In the fifth year the programme expands to include electronic keyboard, offering the students the opportunity to explore new sound worlds and further develop their expressive abilities.
The main goal of the musical programme is to enjoy making music together and to encourage the formation of school orchestras. Through this shared musical experience, students develop teamwork, artistic sensitivity, and the pleasure of sharing music with others.
The Choral Singing School
Within this wide educational programme, IPSI School promotes its Choral Singing School, open to all students. Choral singing provides comprehensive vocal training, allowing students from an early age to develop proper vocal technique, gain control of their voices, and express themselves musically with naturalness and precision.
The School Choirs
The Choral Singing School is organized into several vocal ensembles adapted to each educational stage:
Bártok Choir: For children in I4 and I5, this choir introduces the youngest singers to the world of voice and rhythm through play and movement. It is conducted by Núria Cirera.
Kodály Choir: Composed of students from Years 1 to 3 of primary school, this choir consolidates the foundations of musical and choral training. It is conducted by Isabel Acosta.
Corelli Choir: Formed by students from Year 4 of primary school onwards, this ensemble works on more demanding repertoire and serves as a bridge to the Vivaldi Choir. It is conducted by Pilar Paredes.
In additional to technical work, the programme places special emphasis on interpretation, phrasing, and the understanding of different musical styles and the texts being sung.
Choral singing fosters values such as group discipline, active listening, and mutual respect. It is both musical school and a school for life.
Xera Choir: Made up of parents, relatives and friends of the School, this choir completes the IPSI choral community and helps keep the school’s musical spirit alive.
